For a December 2012 wedding I was asked to come up with something a little different than I had made before. It was a flower themed tiara and bridesmaid accessories. The wedding was in December so all things magical and sparkly were needed to offer something very special. My bride had ideas of what she liked and we found the perfect pieces she had wanted.

Using the amazing Swarovski flat back crystals in a tear shape and using pearls, bicones and rounds we came up with something lovely. The flower embellishment was perfect for the theme I was given and this was accompanied by all things crystal….what do you think??

The brides tiara had quite some depth and sat beautifully amongst her blonde hair…she looked stunning.

Flower Necklace

I used this sterling silver flower frame in a recent design and it has proved very popular. It looks really nice and would be great on bracelets and when used in hair accessories too. There are some nice designs available in the frames so it just adds that central piece for any necklace or bracelet. It has drawn quite a bit of attention of late so maybe this piece will become one of my most popular designs. We will wait and see!!

I have made some hair accessories for a number of brides now which incorporates pieces of lace. A lot of brides do have lace on their dresses and it’s a lovely way to bring together the dress, accessories and tiara combination. I made one recently just to have on my display and it’s very versatile because the lace used can be trimmed and shaped just to add that little something else to the hair. It could be placed on a haircomb or on an aliceband. So just to show an idea I thought I would share this with you. If you wish to discuss using something such as lace on a hair accessory by all means get in touch, it’s a lovely and very effective to see.

A simple padded aliceband, great for younger children. The combination of Swarovski crystals and paper tea roses are a lovely effect on the band without it being too bulky. Little girls love these and they are comfy to wear and is available in lots of colour combinations. Just ask for further details.

County Brides Awards Finalist 2012

I was rather surprised to get a phone call from Sarah at County Brides a couple of weeks ago to say I had been shortlisted in the Accessories Category at the Awards. I had mentioned the awards to my brides and given them the link to vote for me but I wouldn’t have imagined I would ever have been in the top 4 in the Northwest.

It was awards night on June 23rd so on went a posh frock and I took my lovely friend Emma with me for a jolly night out. It was such a fun night. I met lots of people who I know via facebook and Twitter but who I hadn’t met before. So it is lovely to put faces to names and I know who i’m Tweeting or sending a message to.

The Midland Hotel, Manchester was the venue for the Awards. I have never been there before and how grand it was. We were greeted by a champagne reception and were given a little time to say hello’s and find the seating plan. Even though it was a formal affair the evening was relaxed, fun and the atmosphere was great. Lots of laughter and opportunity to chat and make new aquaintences.

So even though I didn’t win my catergory I am thrilled to say I am a finalist and still can’t quite believe I made it to the top 4. So my business is 2 years old in November and it’s been so lovely to feel the hard work is paying off.

Thanks to County Brides who organised a great night and well done to all the winners and finalists for the 2012 awards. I’m hoping to see you all again in 2013!!!

Bespoke Hair Comb

This is a photo of the hair comb in made for my friend Ciara. I had some of the lace which was used in her dress and then added some Swarovski pearls and crystals to add some sparkle. A very simple piece but it looked lovely in her hair. The photos don’t do justice to it but it’s a lovely example of complimenting a detailed dress and can be done in lots of ways. I have made something similar on a side tiara too.

Hairpins

I made some hairpins for a friend of mine for her wedding in February. Her jewellery was based on the ‘Penny’ design using Swarovski pearls, Swarovski rounds and the lovely rondelles.

So I made her hairpins to coordinate with them. A mixture of single 6mm rounds, 6mm pearls and combinations of both and some using the rondelles. She had 16 in total and her hair looked gorgeous. Hope you like the piccies.

I made this a little while ago and it’s recently been added on to the website gallery. I made one using Swarovski Jet, Black Diamond AB and crystal and it look fantastic. It’s a really nice design and it looks great using colours and pearls so it’s a great piece to compliment any wedding theme colour for a bride or bridesmaid.

With Christmas and New Year gone in a flash it’s a funny time of year. January always seems such a long month doesn’t it?

I wonder how many people got engaged over the festive season? Quite a nice and special time to do it. I wonder how many people are now in panic mode thinking……..oh my god….I’m getting married this year!! A busy time for up coming spring/summer weddings now and the amount of choice out there with regard to colours, styles and trends is immense. My only advice is be open minded about what may suit you, your bridesmaids or even the groom’s cravat colour! Don’t be afraid to do something different. It’s a special time and your gut instincts are pretty good at helping to make choices so don’t be afraid to listen to them!

I’ll be exhibiting again on January 15th with County Brides at Manchester City Stadium. My first of the year with a prom fayre later in the month and 2 further Fayres in February. I’ll be adding to my events page as I book more in so keep an eye on that for the latest news.

I’ll be working on some new things over the next few months too. I want to add some hair vines into my collection and make up some new tiara designs. I feel pretty excited for the new year, I have some lovely brides who’ll be wearing my designs in 2012 and I can only hope they are enjoying the ups and downs of wedding planning!

So for now I wish you a very Happy New Year and may all your dreams come true.
